I had a "vicious fish" once. I used to have a Piranha. And it jumped out the tank, too. No one convinced it that it was a good idea...the critter was terrified by me. Yes, piranhas are apparently classic bullies. They're mean when you get them together in a big group, but when you isolate them and confront them when they're alone, they're very scared. At least that's my experience with the one I kept. He'd freak out every time I got near the tank. And one day it shot straight out of the tank, through a small gap in the hood. He lived for a little while after that.

Believe me, the fish was scared. It was not trying to leap from the tank to eat me.
