Apr. 17th, 2004 12:40 pmI picked up Poppy Z. Brite's new novel "Liquor" today. She is no longer writing splatter-punk horror stories. This one is a mainstream, honest look at the restaurant business in New Orleans. It's interesting to watch her mature through her writing. I'm looking forward to seeing how her career might evolve after "Liquor."
I bought the book using the remaining credit I have at a local independent bookstore. Apparently, this "credit" is actually a house account with the store. So, while I don't have a balance in my favor, I can still use the account to purchase books. I can literally walk into the store, pick up a book, and say "Put it on my tab."
