Monologue Artist

Tonight I went to the Gravity Lounge to see local artist Stevie Jay perform his one-man show "Life. Love. Sex. Death...and other works in progress". The briefest description I can give: He delivers a feel good "we can change the world" message through a series of bawdy stories and dirty jokes. It's actually a lot of fun.

I first met him backstage while I was involved with our local theater's production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, where he offered free massage and positive vibes to the actors. Lately, I seem to run into him every time I go to Whole Foods.

I want a sandwich.

Stevie Jay is just kind of like that... I used to wonder, in college, why I kept running into him. Oddly enough, once I started hanging out underground as opposed to on the downtown mall, I stopped seeing him around so much.

The world keeps trying to turn me into a hippie, and I keep resisting... but his show is a lot of fun, yeah. I can't remember if I ever took Cory, I know I've seen it a couple of times.

I also seem to run into him every time I go to the gym. Considering his pectoral muscles and the frequency with which the gym appears in his monologue, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
