They say, "If you love something, set it free."

Our precious tumbleweed has finally flown the coop. Yesterday's wind carried it out of the yard. Perhaps even now it is rolling down the street, seeking its fortune. Of course, we were looking for it on the ground. Perhaps it's stuck in a tree like a kitten. If so, I intend to call the fire department to get it down. Or maybe it was on the ground and I just couldn't see it because my glasses are so scratched I wander around seeing the world as if I were wearing goggles full of spoiled milk.

Fare ye well, tumbleweed.

Is it too soon to replace your lost tumbleweed? If not, we have a wide array of poor homeless tumbleweeds for adoption. Let me know and I will be happy to choose a suitable one for you and your family.

Hm, yes, it may be too soon. I need to compose my tragic song of loss before I consider replacing it. But I will keep you in mind. Thanks!

oh, could I get a a couple tumbleweeds? Exploding cat's fondness of them has rubbed off, and I think they would look fantastic rolling around the fence in my front yard here in the Adirondacks. Talk about surreal!

I feel obligated to say that one should respect the power of tumbleweeds, aka Russian Thistle. The wife said she did her best to shake out all the seeds over time, and disposed of them in the trash, before we actually let it run loose in the yard. As much as I would love to see tumbleweeds every day, without natural predators in a nonnative area I have to wonder if a few stray seeds could cause a problem. A plague of tumbleweeds upon the land. So, shake out those tumbleweeds. Like all pets you don't intend to breed, they should be fixed.

(raises right hand)I will be very careful to not become an irresponsible tumbleweed breeder. :) Thanks for the warning though, I really don't want them surrounding the house completely! Just sitting in the front yard waving at passing cars, LOL
