If there's every a question about where I get my sense of humor...a quote from a recent email from my father:

"Yes I'm facing surgery. They have to reconstruct the ACL. They use a tendon from a cadaver and screw it into my bones. I never faced something like this before. It will require 6 months of painful rehab. It is kind of scary for me. I'm hoping that they can find a Chinese cadaver, it would make my kung fu better."

And sometimes my real choices for Current Music are stranger than the ones I make up to be stupid. There is quite a lot of Godzilla music that sounds like it came straight out of Hawaii Five-0.

"they use a tendon from a cadaver and screw it into my bones."
YEEEAA.
Something out of William Burroughs.

Oh hell yeah. I can hear Burroughs saying that line. I used to listen to these weird recordings of Burroughs reciting his stuff to creepy ambient music. My old roommate had that on CD, can't remember which one it was... Burroughs always seemed to read his own work as if he hated it...perhaps he did, considering his addiction was often the inspiration.

...incidental music from the Brady Bunch episodes in Hawaii? Especially the "Tiki God" sound/piece?

There should have been a cross-over story. Brady Bunch visits Hawaii. Godzilla gets drunk off fermented giant squid juice and walks the wrong way across the Pacific Ocean, ending up in Hawaii, where he gets very angry when he can't find Tokyo.

Ha! Your parents are awesome. :) Tell 'em I said 'hi', and I hope everything goes smoothly for your dad.

hee!

Of course now my brain is doing all kinds of things, like imagining your dad getting a piece of tendon from an EEEEEvil person, which would then cause him to randomly kick puppies...

or something...

Yup. Same thing crossed my mind. Actually, I think there was a movie about that some time ago. I guy received a transplant arm from a killer. Hijinks ensue...
