Assuming the magic elves responsible for crafting and transmitting the tickets to my mailbox are not three sheets to the wind in Copenhagen, the wife and I will have an evening with Tom Waits in Asheville. August 2.

!!!

I'm running out of must-see music acts. What's left? It just might be time to rent a suite of rooms and hang myself from the balcony irons after this show.

(of course I know there are some Waits haters out there who'd rather hang themselves than listen to him. but I thank you for not being in front of me in the ticketmaster queue. i'm pretty sure this show sold out in less than 30 minutes)

The only must see concert I've ever been to was the '75 Pink Floyd DSotM tour. :)

They opened the first set with "Raving and Drooling", followed by "You've Got to be Crazy"*, and finished with "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"; none of which had ever been heard by the public. The second set was DSotM, and they did two encores, one of which was "Echoes". The other was either "One of These Days" or "Careful With That Axe, Eugene", but my brain damage prevents my remembering which. Bet set ever, and hearing new music was amazing.

*) After a change of lyrics the titles were changed to "Sheep" and "Dogs", respectively.

Sounds good! Did the complete scream occur during "Careful With That Axe, Eugene"? I love a good scream.

My other big must see recently was Dead Can Dance, whom I saw last October.

If CWTAE was the encore, then I'm sure the scream was present. :)

I'd love to see DCD. I didn't know they were back together.

The next two weeks are going to be busy for me. Tomorrow night I might see Jefferson Starship, and next week is Rusted Root and It's a Beautiful Day; and the week after that is Jesse Cook.

DCD reunited for a tour last fall. Unfortunately, I don't think they are actually writing or recording any new music together.
