Finally, at home. Way too late. But a rare opportunity to hang out with the band is to blame. Blixa Bargeld is a very charming, nice guy. He talks. A lot. With very little prodding, he began talking as soon as he joined the small group of fans. A constant stream of words occasionally broken by questions from fans that would only encourage more words. He signed CDs and sipped red wine. Andrew Chudy, The Beer Fairy. Giddy and fluttering about giving away beer. Likely, he was more than happy to give it away, because it was Budweiser with a screw off cap. But I accepted the offer. I talked shop with their keyboard/sampler guy, Ash Wednesday. Exchanged a few words with Alexander Hacke. Did not have much contact with the others beyond a requisite CD signing. A pleasant, informal gathering. A generous opportunity. Good god the sun is rising.

[livejournal.com profile] blixa23 is going to pee all over himself when he reads this, you know. Especially since I have finally bought his tickets.

Im glad you had a good time. Was that a supporter's gathering or just a random gathering of fans?

Whoa. Who gets to clean up the pee?

Yes, it was a supporter's gathering. The rules were somewhat inconsistent about the number of people, but I think the venue ultimately decided on the limit. At our show, it was each supporter plus one guest that could meet with them. Did you ever get blixa23's situation sorted out with his supporter membership?

Do it man! Email! We were able to get a photo pass. Jocelyn got right up front between the stage and security barrier and got some pictures during the first 3 songs. The process of getting recognized as a supporter was a little chaotic, because they don't have a dedicated person throughout this tour. So, it took some time for the local volunteer to convince the club he was supposed to be let in early. So he got a late start on learning what he was supposed to do. The photo passes didn't reach the ticket booth outside until I was already inside the club. Maybe they'll be a little more organized by the time they get to you. Despite the chaos, a little patience and perseverance paid off and we didn't miss any opportunities.

Yep. Got it sorted out. You can read the post here.
If that little tart webby is there, she best be wise enough to NOT piss off my grumpy 37-week pregnant self. That would be a little too close to her challenging a sumo wrestler.

Hey, did you score a live cd of the show? Or were they even doing that at that show? That's so awesome that you got to meet them.

Yes, they were offering the live cd of the show. I did get one. This should be interesting. Usually you only take memories away from a show. I wonder if my memories will be much clearer with this recording to remind me.

I was so disappointed that I couldn't bring you. Initially they said supporters could bring bring up 2 or 3 people. But I think the 9:30 Club set a strict rule so they could be consistent and keep things under control. So, it did end up that I could only bring Jocelyn. I did manage to get your CD signed by 5 of the 6 guys. It got passed around and missed one of them. I'm not sure which. I think I missed the percussionist who was not NU Unruh...I did get Unruh (the beer fairy). I wonder why he uses his real name in the liner notes for the new album? Anyway, I got my live cd signed. I'm sitting there holding yours, not quite finding the opportunity to approach Blixa with it. He looks over at me and says, "You know, I do sign the studio CDs, too." So, he was the first to touch it.
