Finally, at home. Way too late. But a rare opportunity to hang out with the band is to blame. Blixa Bargeld is a very charming, nice guy. He talks. A lot. With very little prodding, he began talking as soon as he joined the small group of fans. A constant stream of words occasionally broken by questions from fans that would only encourage more words. He signed CDs and sipped red wine. Andrew Chudy, The Beer Fairy. Giddy and fluttering about giving away beer. Likely, he was more than happy to give it away, because it was Budweiser with a screw off cap. But I accepted the offer. I talked shop with their keyboard/sampler guy, Ash Wednesday. Exchanged a few words with Alexander Hacke. Did not have much contact with the others beyond a requisite CD signing. A pleasant, informal gathering. A generous opportunity. Good god the sun is rising.

I was so disappointed that I couldn't bring you. Initially they said supporters could bring bring up 2 or 3 people. But I think the 9:30 Club set a strict rule so they could be consistent and keep things under control. So, it did end up that I could only bring Jocelyn. I did manage to get your CD signed by 5 of the 6 guys. It got passed around and missed one of them. I'm not sure which. I think I missed the percussionist who was not NU Unruh...I did get Unruh (the beer fairy). I wonder why he uses his real name in the liner notes for the new album? Anyway, I got my live cd signed. I'm sitting there holding yours, not quite finding the opportunity to approach Blixa with it. He looks over at me and says, "You know, I do sign the studio CDs, too." So, he was the first to touch it.
